Hand bell choir performs at Chipper’s Christmas Wonderland
Chipper’s Christmas Wonderland is open tonight and tomorrow, Dec. 16-17, from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitors can expect to see over 4,000 outdoor lights filling the promenades of the Plumas Sierra County Fairgrounds, and tonight they can also enjoy the sounds of a popular hand bell choir.
A gentle walking experience takes guests through a tunnel of lights, a display of the 12 Days of Christmas and the popular Nativity scene. There will be fire pits to warm everyone and to roast marshmallows for s’mores or just to pop in your mouth.
When you enter the Tulsa Scott Pavilion, you will find Santa’s Enchanted Forest, where the jolly old elf and his assistant elves will hear children’s pleas for Christmas morning. This year, parents are welcome to take pictures of their young ones with Santa, and it’s all for free.
Escape the cold with a meal from our concession stand next to the forest — choose from chicken noodle soup, creamy mac and cheese, or hearty chili. Hot dogs are also available, along with hot coffee, hot chocolate and soda. Vendors will be offering their Christmas wares in that building too, a great way to snag a unique gift for whomever.
Finally, take a stroll into Serpilio Hall and marvel at the dozens of hand painted displays created by a team of volunteers over the past two years. From Gingerbread Town to a community of wacky penguins, kids of all ages will cherish this visit.
Serpilio Hall will also be the site of the Christmas Concert tonight, Dec. 17, featuring Tintabulations, the internationally popular hand bell choir. Tickets for the event can be purchased on-line at www.plumas-sierracountyfair.net or by coming to the Fair Office. Tickets are $20 each. It’s guaranteed to be a magical evening.
Chipper’s Christmas Wonderland is free to attend. The event is put on by the PSCF Foundation, the non-profit that works to benefit the Plumas Sierra County Fair. If you truly enjoy any part of the Christmas event, there will be several locations you can donate money to help support the event for years to come. Over $20,000 has be invested in this event over the past two years, and it will only get bigger and better. Consider becoming a member of the PSCF Foundation and get involved with this, and other exciting events surrounding our beloved fairgrounds. Visit www.plumas-sierracountyfair.net for more information.
