In past years the volunteers of the Mohawk Valley Stewardship Council (MVSC) have sponsored an event called “School Days,” where third-graders come to the old ranch site in Clio and learn about the history of the area. The pandemic has canceled what was an annual event. It’s not quite the same, but on Sunday, Sept. 5, the MVSC is putting on an outdoor event called “Family Day.”
There will be kids games, a marked hiking trail and live entertainment. Hours are from noon to 4 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per person, at the door, and kids 4 and under get in free. No pets please! Attendees should bring a chair and picnic food. Beer, wine and snacks are available for purchase. The refurbished ranch house, with period furniture and décor, will be open to visitors with masks on..
The entertainment starts at 1 p.m. and continues until closing time. The Baker Street Band is a foursome from Reno. They call themselves a rock-and-roll vocal group. One of the members played with the Beach Boys for 23 years. He also spent a year with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The MVSC was fortunate to be able to get this group to come to Clio.
White Sulphur Springs Ranch is at 2200 Highway 89, ¼ mile south of A15 in Clio.
