Feather Fall rec facilities remain closed until Sept. 30

The temporary construction closure for Feather Falls recreation facilities is being extended until Sept. 30. Plumas National Forest officials had hoped to have the work done this month, but fires and construction delays have slowed work progress.

The project consists of $1.7 million in grant funded maintenance and upgrades to the trail, parking lot, access road, and campground that service the Feather Falls Recreation Area in Butte County, CA.

There are no options for detours or alternate periods of use, due to the site layout.

People exempt from area closure include persons with a permit allowing them access, federal, state and local officers or members of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in performance of official duty, and persons with a contract from the Forest Service authorizing work on the closed roads to the extent authorized.

Contact the Feather River Ranger District at (530) 534-6500 for other local hiking options during the temporary closure. Other information may be found at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/plumas .
