Firefighters quickly control fire near La Porte

The Plumas National Forest is reporting that a fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. today near the La Porte and was declared controlled before 5:30 p.m. The human-caused fire was dubbed the Valley Fire and only burned a 100-foot square.
The Plumas National Forest is warning the public that vegetation is drying out and an exceptionally hot weekend is coming.
