Firefighters responding to escaped burn pile UPDATED

UPDATED: 4:30 p.m. March 14: When asked for more details about the fire, the Forest Service reports that it started as a residential burn pile on private land and reached about one-half acre. A Forest Service engine responded and extinguished the fire. Indian Valley Fire and Crescent Mills also responded.

UPDATED 5:30 p.m.: Responding units report that the flames are knocked down and the wind has subsided.

Local volunteer fire departments and Forest Service personnel are responding to an escaped burn pile on the Beckwourth-Genesee Road approximately 10 miles from Taylorsville late this afternoon, March 12.

It’s reported to be spreading with the wind and nearing a forested area.
