First PST, and now Verizon — communication tricky in Plumas and Sierra counties

UPDATED 5 p.m.: As of approximately 4:30 p.m., PST has restored internet services. Repairs will continue throughout the evening, according to PST.

UPDATED 2:30 p.m.: According to someone familiar with the issue regarding PST internet service, the main feed was severed impacting customers from Bordertown, to Susanville to Quincy. Estimated restoration is 4 p.m.

Plumas Sierra Telecommunications is working on restoring internet services to its broadband customers, but doesn’t have an estimated time of restoration. The service has been out since this morning.

And now (approximately 2:15 p.m.) the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office announced that it’s been notified of a Verizon outage affecting the majority of Sierra County. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the outage is not impacting landlines. To report an emergency call 530-289-3700.
