Forest Service works on lightning fires

Fall is in the air  and the higher humidity, lower temperatures and the scattered precipitation that has accompanied the thunderstorms are keeping fire behavior pretty moderated. According to the Forest Service, firefighters continue to respond to, line and mop-up lightning fires and are expecting to get more reports from last night’s thunderstorm. The majority of the fires exhibit low rates of spread and low potential to grow. Some fires like the Rich in the Feather River Canyon (three-tenths of an acre as of this morning), have heavy mop-up and gnarly conditions (steep, rocky, brushy) so they take more time to work.
