FRC announces that 3 students test positive for COVID

In the past two days, three Feather River College students have tested positive for coronavirus.

FRC announced Saturday evening, Nov. 7, that it was notified of one student who tested positive for COVID-19 after reporting symptoms earlier in the week. The student was tested Friday and FRC received notification of the positive test that same evening. The student is currently enrolled in some on-campus classes.

Contact tracing identified six additional individuals who were in close contact and shared private housing off-campus. The six additional students all completed COVID testing Saturday. Two of the six individuals also tested positive. All three positive cases are under a 10-day isolation. The four negative cases who were in close contact are under a 14-day quarantine.

At this time it is unknown if the students attended any in-person classes last week, but instructors have been notified. FRC is now working with Public Health and the students to determine if there are potential additional exposures on campus.

Due to privacy concerns, FRC cannot release the names of the students.  College President Kevin Trutna said the college is  working to determine how much, if any, contact the students had on campus this week. “If there is a close contact as determined by Public Health, any impacted FRC staff and students will be contacted with follow-up directions,” he said in an email alerting staff and Plumas News.
