Free seedling giveaway May 25
Feather River Resource Conservation District has free seedlings available to interested landowners. These seedlings are remainders from the 2023 private lands reforestation done under the Plumas Emergency Forest Restoration project. Over the past month, Feather River RCD planted approximately 730 acres within the Dixie and North Complex fire scars. Thirty-one  individual landowner properties were planted and approximately 105,000 trees were put in the ground. This program will continue for interested landowners until 2026.
Current species available include ponderosa pine, Jeffrey pine, incense cedar, Douglas fir, and a small amount of sugar pine. Feather River RCD staff will be parked at the Evergreen Market in Greenville on Thursday, May 25 from 3 to 5 p.m., and will have a selection of seedlings available for pickup. FRRCD staff can provide guidance on planting techniques to help trees survive into maturity.
