Friends of the Library cancels August book sale
The Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library has just announced that they are canceling their book sale originally planned for the first week of August.
Given the fires still raging throughout the county, the road closures, the many displaced and anxious people, the book sale’s organizers felt that this was not a good time for this event. The Friends are hoping that they’ll be able to schedule another book sale in the near future.
Meanwhile, the Friends’ Silent Auction is still going on at Plumas Bank in downtown Quincy. It’s been extended an extra week, through Friday, Aug. 6. That means there’s still plenty of time to stop by and bid on one or more of their beautiful books. New items have just been added to the auction, some of which are pictured here. So even if you’ve already looked things over, come check out their offerings again. If nothing else, it’ll offer you some distraction from the day’s cares.
The members of the Friends’ board are sad to have to cancel this book sale. But more than that, according to the Friends board “we are sad for our county, our communities, and our friends and neighbors who may be facing hardship and loss. We send caring thoughts to everyone, along with our wishes that everyone is able to stay safe and sane through this difficult time.”
Please be aware that under current conditions, the Friends cannot accept book donations now or in the immediate future. The Friends’ board thanks everyone for their understanding.
