Liberty Gott, 10, gives Ella Hardgrave, 10, a ride down Alder Street in Quincy during the big snowstorm Jan. 6. A snowplow hadn’t touched the residential area by early afternoon and neighborhood children had their snow discs and toboggans out trying to get the thick layer of snow packed down for the best sledding. Liberty Gott couldn’t resist seeing if she could get a few of the delicious-looking snowflakes into her mouth. While spinouts were reported, with vehicle crashes and telephone and power lines coming down, Liberty didn’t care because the day was meant to enjoy.
Six-year-old Mike Hardgrave was among the children who found the combination of a hill, snow and sledding too much to resist. As snow fell in big, fluffy flakes Mike and others went up and down Alder Street.
