Friends of the Chester Library are sponsoring the “Cowboy Poet” event on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Chester Library. Distinguished guest, Mr. Larry Maurice, will not only perform entertaining poetry based on the experiences of being a cowboy, but he will share stories and songs of living this lifestyle, which is becoming more unique everyday. Through his true talent, he will transport you to a life of cattle drives, captivating characters, and a life which few people will ever experience.
The Academy of Western Artists presented the “Will Rogers Cowboy Award” to Larry Maurice for Ccowboy Poet of the Year. To the delight of audiences, he has been able to perform as far away as Calgary, Alberta, to Williamsburg, Virginia, and Nevada and California venues. When not performing, Larry continues living the life of a true cowboy working with Longhorn cattle, and working horses on his ranch in Palomino, NV. Larry also spends time on horse drives, leading a string of mules into the back country. His poetry, songs and stories are about a life he truly loves.
You don’t want to miss this event. There is no entry fee, and hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be available! Remember to mark your calendar for an evening of pure enjoyment.
