Greenville Park gets new play structure

“We now hope that children in the community will be able to come out and spend some quality time on this structure and obtain needed exercise. This was truly a community project,” said IVCSD General Manager Chris Gallagher.

Indian Valley Community Service District received a grant from a national nonprofit organization called Kaboom, which provides funding for communities to provide safe places for kids to play — especially in regions with high poverty. Kaboom partners with communities to supply play spaces built by communities empowered to do so.

IVCSD also partnered with Ross Recreation Equipment to supply children of various age groups a playground structure they can enjoy.

Seven volunteers and five IVCSD staff prepared the groundwork the second week of September culminating in building the structure Sept. 14.

The previous playground had fallen into disrepair after decades of constant use.

The IVCSD has postponed the open house for the new structure due to rainy weather.
