Groundbreaking ceremony for new Seneca hospital July 26
Seneca Healthcare District (SHD) announced the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the new hospital will be held on Wednesday, July 26, at 9 a.m., at the parking lot behind the clinic, which is adjacent to the future site of the new hospital located at 199 Reynolds Road in Chester.
In June 2021, under the leadership of Shawn McKenzie, CEO, SHD announced the NEW Building Campaign, “My Hospital, My Community, Back the Build.”
“Breaking ground on our new hospital is a historical event.” said McKenzie. “For the past several years, we have worked diligently to make the dream of building a new hospital a reality. The new 46,000 SF building will help meet the modern medical needs of the Lake Almanor Basin residents now and for many generations to come.”
The groundbreaking event will feature SHD Board Members: Jerri Nielsen, Richard Rydell, Kenneth Crandall, Sherrie Thrall, and Shelley Stelzner, as well as the Executive Team: CEO, Shawn McKenzie, CNO, Judith Cline, and CFO, Steve Boline, Plumas County District 3 Supervisor Tom McGowan, Nancy Foote with Seneca Auxiliary, SHD Family Practice Provider, Dr. David Walls, and Director of Plant Operations and Safety, Linda McCurdy.
Guest speakers will include SHD Board President, Jerri Nielsen, Seneca Auxiliary President, Maggie Fleming and SHD CEO, Shawn McKenzie. Along with a blessing of the project from Saint Andrews, Father Brian Foos and Choir.
This will be a great day for Chester and the Almanor Basin. A state-of-the art Hospital will take care of our community and visitors as well as helping the area grow. Congratulations to Shawn McKenzie and his efforts.
