Groundhog Fever Festival set for Saturday

Groundhog Fever Festival brings Chuck Wood back for winter predictions this Saturday, Feb. 1, at the county courthouse, from 1 to 5 p.m.

The annual festival is sponsored by the Quincy Chamber of Commerce and all proceeds benefit chamber activities. Organizers described the event as “a great way to shake off the winter blues.”

Organizers have planned a series of events to take place on the courthouse steps doubling as a stage for the day, including the chili cook-off and honorary mayor of Quincy award. The day of events will kick off at 1 p.m. with the festival opening ceremonies.

Chuck Wood will make his grand appearance at 3 p.m., giving his weather prediction for the year. Thus far, the furry little forecaster has a 100 percent accuracy rate.

At 4 p.m., the winners of the chili cook-off will be announced.
