The holiday season always puts a strain on the blood supply. With more folks on the road, accidents happen, and that reality on top of the always-dire need for blood to aid cancer patients, high-risk newborns, and those who have been injured in other than car accidents means your blood donation is especially critical at this time of the year.
If you couldn’t donate at last week’s Greenville blood drive, there are two days to choose from if you’d like to help out by donating a pint of blood in Quincy.
Tuesday’s drive, Dec. 7, runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane, just west of the hospital. This drive is sponsored by the LDS Church.
Wednesday’s drive runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is sponsored by Patti’s Thunder Café. This is the third time Patti DeCoe and daughter Alexa have sponsored the holiday drive. We thank them and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and invite other groups to sponsor a future drive!
To make an appointment, call local drive coordinator Susan Christensen at 530-283-2424 or go to www.bloodhero.com and use the sponsor code Quincy to make an appointment online. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are appreciated.
If you can donate, don’t forget your mask, and be sure to eat a hearty meal before you come in. We’ll also need your photo ID.
Please join us in making sure our local blood supply is sufficient for those who need it.
