Honoring fallen firefighters

Around the nation, firefighters in full gear walk up 110 flights of stairs to honor the 343 compatriots who perished in the 9/11 attacks on America. This is simply called “The Stair Climb.” Shortly after attending Patriot Day services at Truman Collins Sports Complex, five firefighters from Chester Fire and CalFire began their own tribute with a stair climb using the burn trailer training structure at Chester Fire Department to simulate the flights of stairs. Chester fireman Matthew Maumoynier was joined by CalFire firefighters Blaik Ellson, Brendon Curtright, Jason Lintner and Jordan Romberg-Gough to make the 65 trips up and down the course representing the 110 stair flights.
