Indian Valley Museum still going strong, seeks new members

Indian Valley Museum wants the community to know that despite COVID and the havoc and displacement caused by the Dixie Fire—with some members losing their homes and businesses—the membership is still going strong.
In December, their members, along with special guests, gathered for a holiday dinner. A special donation was collected of $825 to purchase Evergreen gift certificates that were given away to 33 Indian Valley families who were affected by the devastation of the fire and were in need.
After the horrific loss of the Greenville Cy Hall Memorial Museum in a few hours, members were determined to try to protect the artifacts. Many museum and community volunteers successfully evacuated the museum’s historical documents, pictures, gems, and minerals. With displays now taken apart, there are plans to repaint the museum inside and refurbish the exhibitions before the reopening in early summer 2022.
In addition, progress has continued on the new room being added to the annex building that will eventually hold the restored 1905 Hardgrave stage and other displays.
“The museum society is always looking for new friends and members who enjoy local history and gems and minerals,” said volunteer Sherilyn Schwartz.
The Indian Valley Museum holds a monthly potluck dinner and meeting with a program for members to get to know each other, enjoy a friendly camaraderie, and support the sharing of Indian Valley history. In the past, Indian Valley Museum has attracted visitors from near and far with their unique displays and special events throughout the year.
