It’s flower basket time in Quincy
Submitted by Plumas Arts and Quincy Chamber
Quincy Chamber of Commerce and Plumas Arts are partnering with volunteers to bring flower baskets back again this year, but we need your help. It requires more than sun and water to keep these lovely plants blooming. goal is to raise $5,000 to purchase and care for 70 baskets to beautify from Downtown Quincy through East Quincy!
Tax-deductible donations can be made out to Plumas Arts and mailed to Plumas Arts at PO Box 600, Quincy CA 95971 or dropped off at these locations:
•          Plumas Arts (credit card payments available)
•          The Toy Store
Those who choose to sponsor a basket for $300 will receive a plaque under one of the flower baskets downtown recognizing their gift. In the past, individuals and businesses have chosen this option to recognize a business or a loved one. For example: A family honoring a new grandchild, or in honor of a loved one’s life. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated to help us brighten our community

So far we have fundraised $2,500 out of our goal of $5,000, and 7 out of 22 baskets downtown have been sponsored. Projects such as these require a lot of community cooperation, participation and commitment! We are inviting volunteers to help us with transporting, placing and caring for the plants. Also, we are hiring a part-time position to water the flower baskets throughout the growing season.
In 2021, we began managing this Quincy tradition. This process includes arranging for pickup at Country Gardens in Standish (near Susanville). The magnificent plants are on display in town from May to October, then they are returned to the nursery to be stored and re-planted for next spring.
Thank you to everyone who provides ongoing financial support for this lovely project. For more information, please contact the Quincy Chamber of Commerce by phone at (530) 394-0541 or by email at [email protected], or visit the website at quincychamber.com/flower-baskets.
