It’s icy out there – please be careful

The California Highway Patrol is at the scene of two incidents this afternoon, Dec. 17, related to icy roadways.

One is a single-vehicle rollover on Cemetery Hill in Quincy. The CHP is advising that it is very icy and Caltrans is working on the roadway. Minor injuries were reported.

In another incident, a single vehicle spun off the roadway west of Blairsden. A female driver and her two juvenile passengers were uninjured, but the vehicle was lodged in the snow.

There was also a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highways 70 and 89 in Blairsden. More details of that incident will be shared when the CHP issues its report later this afternoon.

Caltrans District 2 offers the following mantra: Ice and Snow, Take it Slow. The CHP reiterates that advice. Public Information Officer Jeffrey Rood said all drivers should drive cautiously as the county’s roadways are very icy.
