The letter came to the board on Monday, Sept. 28, announcing that Indian Valley Community Services District General Manager Chris Gallagher was retiring effective Sept. 30.
“We appreciate Chris’ service to the district and wish he and his family well in his retirement,” said Wayne Dannemiller, IVCSD board chair.
The board met on Wednesday, Sept. 30, in a special meeting at the Greenville Town Hall to determine first steps in replacing the part-time manager position with the intent to fly both an interim and permanent position.
The board officially accepted Gallagher’s retirement letter and formulated their official standard response letter back to him.
Board members then divvied up the general manager’s responsibilities along the lines of their committee duties for the immediate time being and the immediate continuation of responsibilities.
Additional weekly IVCSD board meetings have been scheduled to get the process of finding a new manager underway. The next meeting will take place Oct. 8 at the Greenville Town Hall at 120 Bidwell St., Greenville at 6 p.m.
The board will be reviewing past job descriptions for the general manager and addressing any updates of the description as well as strategizing over publicizing the opening and recruitment.
Coronavirus safety protocol was adhered to by most of the board members and staff at the meeting on Sept. 30, with most wearing masks correctly and keeping six feet apart.
