Jeanine Carle

We are deeply saddened to share that Jeanine Carle passed away on May 20, 2022. She was 80 years old.

She was born in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, a small island in the Caribbean. Her family moved to Puerto Rico when she was 5. She spoke Spanish at school and French at home. The family immigrated to Pennsylvania when she was 13. She used to say that she learned English singing to Elvis Presley. Jeanine moved out to California in the 1960s.

Jeanine was an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother. Her four children, and some of her grandchildren, are graduates of Portola High School. She had seven grandchildren.

With her kind heart, Jeanine also became “Mom” to so many others who loved her.

Jeanine and her husband of 42 years, Peter Vang, worked in masonry, with Peter as the mason and Jeanine as the mason’s tender. Together, they also owned Mountain Freedom Christmas wreaths. For more than 30 years, they provided holiday joy to thousands of families.

If you knew Jeanine, you know her heart was bigger than the size of Texas. She fed anyone she met who needed to be fed, and she loved everyone who needed to be loved. She was a generous donor to several charities. She loved music, and she was an excellent singer. She could dance like nobody’s business, and she never stopped dancing until the day she died.

Jeanine is deeply missed by her family, many friends around the world, and anyone who was fortunate enough to meet her. Jeanine was a very bright light.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
