Barbara “Jeannie “ Wright Licata age 94 passed away on Halloween due to pneumonia. She had moved to Fairfield Ca from Clio to be near family. Her daughter and nieces were present to say their final goodbyes.
Jeannie was born on a farm in Armington, Illinois to Fred and Flora Wright along with her siblings: Mary, Fred Jr., Dick, and Joanne. She later attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing graduating as an RN. She worked in pediatrics until she became a stewardess for United Airlines.
She met handsome stock broker John Licata in Manhattan Beach California. John and Jeannie shared a love for music, books, travel, and dining out. They were married on July 7, 1957, in Reno Nevada. They had two children Marisa and John Anthony.
Jeannie was a real estate broker in Sonoma for 15 years; retiring to work for her husbands’ securities business. She is one of the few to pass the SIE Series 7 exam on the first try. She studied Italian in Sonoma and Italy. She was a lifetime volunteer for Master Gardeners, Children’s Health Council, KQED, Vintage House, Bouverie Ranch and many others.
Jeannie will be remembered as a friend and mother who selflessly and deeply cared about those she loved. She had a great wit, loved learning, volunteering, gardening, and cooking.
Jeannie is survived by her children Marisa Licata, John (Cheryl) Licata, grand-children Grant Licata and Alley (Jared) Files and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
Jeannie will be interred at the VA cemetery in Dixon Ca, along with her husband. The family will have a celebration of life in April 2022. Donations to the Arbor Day Foundation can be made in her name.
