The Feather River chapter of Trout Unlimited holds its annual junior fishing derby May 20 at the Graeagle Mill Pond, which has been held for over 20 years. One of the first catches of the day came from Caden Kuraisa, age 5, with Dad Todd Kuraisa. Photos by Lauren Westmoreland
Parker Williamson, age 4, shrieked with excitement when he got his first bite of the day, and Chloe Williamson, age 8, looked on in amazement as Parker’s fish danced on the end of the pole.
Tony Basile and 5 1/2-year-old Felix Basile have good luck in their efforts to catch some fish at the junior fishing derby.
Families (and geese) show up at the Mill Pond to fish at 7 a.m. on May 20, and event organizers appreciate all that contributed to the event, with special thanks to Mountain Hardware, Graeagle Land and Water, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Graeagle Millworks, Graeagle Frostee, Plumas County Fish and Game Commission, and the Sportsmans Den of Chester for their many contributions.
