At the request of Plumas County, the American Red Cross has set up an Emergency Disaster Evacuation Center at the Chester Memorial Hall located at 225 Gay Street. Red Cross PR contact, Steve Walsh, stated that the center is there to meet the immediate needs of any evacuees from the fire affected areas. The have sleeping accommodations available along with water and meals. Social distancing protocols are practiced at the site. Site supervisor Carolyn Adams also noted that Red Cross personal are available to help evacuees contact more permanent resources. The site is open for registration 24 hours a day. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is upgrading the evacuation warning to a mandatory evacuation order for the Butte Meadows area due to the Dixie Fire.
