Quincy Lions Club volunteer Dick Castaldini accepts a donation to the annual White Cane campaign from fellow Quincy resident Jim Battagin outside the Safeway on Oct. 12. Castaldini earned his 50-year pin this year as a Lions Club member and the White Cane campaign is something he’s proud to support. “We help people get eye exams and glasses repairs in our area,” he said. Not shown is Lions member Steve Morris who staffed another donation table over at the U.S. Post Office. The club welcomes new members and interested volunteers are invited to drop by the Paradise Grill, 90 E. Main St., every third Thursday at noon to learn more about Lions Club services. The Quincy Lions Club reminds locals they can donate good, used eyeglasses all year long when they see displays like this one. One popular place to find the donation box is at Plumas Bank on Main Street in downtown Quincy. According to Lions Clubs International, White Cane Safety Day (Oct. 15) is observed worldwide.
