Mandatory evacuations for Almanor West and Prattville UPDATED-warnings for the Peninsula
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a mandatory evacuation order as of 8:40 a.m. this morning, Aug. 3, for all residences from Canyon Dam northbound to Highway 36, along the Highway 89 corridor. This includes the Canyon Dam boat launch, Rocky Point Campground, Big Meadows, Prattville and Lake Almanor West due to the Dixie Fire. An evacuation center has been established at the Chester Memorial Hall at 180 Gay St. in Chester.
Additionally warnings are in place for residents on the Peninsula and Hamilton Branch and includes North Shore of the Country Club and Bailey Creek. The Sheriff asks that you make plans to evacuate and if you have special needs, evacuate now.
