Map highlights forest areas that are closed
While firefighters continue to increase containment of the North Complex Fire, interior spots continue to burn and many areas are considered hazardous with the threat of falling trees. Residents have been allowed to return to their homes, but the forests remain closed.
During its daily briefings, incident command has repeatedly asked that hunters and others refrain from entering the forests — for their safety as well as that of the firefighters. Forest Service law enforcement is patrolling the areas.
To make it easier to determine, what areas of the forest remain closed, the Plumas County Sheriff worked with the county’s GIS coordinator and the Forest Service to provide this map. Of note, all of the federal land around Bucks Lake and La Porte remains closed.
