Margaret Garcia to headline Quincy’s Words & Music Nov. 10

Quincy Words & Music is back in action every second Thursday of the month through May 2023. Each month, the featured artists perform first, followed by a short break and then open mic starts and goes until 9 p.m. Join us at Patti’s Thunder Café this Thursday starting at 7 p.m. for spoken word, music, and delicious drinks and treats from Patti’s.

Plumas Arts is pleased to have Margaret Elysia Garcia as the featured artist at this Thursday’s Words and Music on Nov. 10. Margaret Elysia Garcia is the award-winning author of the newly published Graft, a collection of short stories published by Tolsun PressShe’s the author of several poetry chapbooks including: Burn Scars, The Alzheimer’s Cul de Sac, When the Ground Tore Open, You in the House of My Heart. Her work has been featured in the Haunt Press’ When They Saw Us, They Saw the Dead, a BIPOC Horror Anthology, Akashic Noir Series Santa Cruz Noir, PM Press’ All of Me: Stories of Love, Anger, and the Female Body, on Upworthy, and Juked, Catamaran Literary Reader, the Guardian. She teaches a poetry publishing class with Community Literary Initiative of Los Angeles bringing poetry to non-academic settings. She’s the co-editor of the forthcoming HeyDay Books publication Red Flag Warning: Northern Californians Living with Fire due to be published in 2023. She teaches drama to teens in the dramaworks SWEET program and is the co-founder of Pachuca Productions bringing original theatrical events and social justice-oriented plays to Plumas County. She writes for Feather Publishing as her alter ego Meg Upton. Join us to hear from her new book Graft and various other published and non published original works. Words & Music is a program of Plumas Arts, featuring acoustic performances of music and the spoken word. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., with the Featured Artist starting at 7 p.m.; the show goes until 9 p.m. Sign up at the door before 7 p.m. for an Open Mic spot following the Featured Artist.
