Margaret L Padgett “Shellnut”

Sandy Shellnut, left, and her mom, Marge Padgett “Shellnut”

Margaret L Padgett “Shellnut”—a long time resident and teacher in Chester, California — died Sept.23, 2020 at her son Terry’s home in North Dakota. She had a full and adventurous life: backpacking the Sierras, camping and whitewater rafting, volunteering around the world including building schools in Madagascar, working in a Bolivian orphanage, and constructing water lines in Nicaragua. She traveled with her daughter Sandy Shellnut to 48 different countries, chasing elephants in Namibia, hiking the Routburn trail of New Zealand at 83, diving in the Galapagos Island with marine iguanas. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. When asked what hour it was, she often would reply “cocktail hour!” and then would have her favorite drink a MANGO MARGE. Please raise a glass and toast a life well lived for Margie! She is survived by her four children: Sandy, Cindy, Terry and Kevin.
