Minerva containment pushed back
10 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 13: Incident command announced this morning that it is pushing the containment date for the Minerva Fire to this Wednesday, Aug. 16. The Forest Service had hoped to have the fire fully contained by yesterday, but there continues to be moderate burning within some areas during the day. Helicopters are assisting ground crews in putting out hot spots. The Minerva Fire began July 29. It remains 98 percent contained at 4,310 acres, and now has 140 personnel assigned. Incident command has been transferred from the Type 2 team to the Plumas National Forest.
