Oct. 19 North Complex Fire: Now 95 percent contained, but entering fire weather watch
The North Complex Fire spewed a little more smoke over the weekend as hotspots burn within the containment lines. More of that can be anticipated this week as a Fire Weather Watch goes into effect tonight through Wednesday morning. The predicted winds are not predicted to be as high as last week, and the Forest Service is confident that enough fire crews remain in the area to keep the fire contained.
Crews are continuing to put out hotspots as well as repairing damage from suppression efforts.
The fire remains at 318,930 acres and is 95 percent contained.
Forest closures remain in effect and hazardous conditions still exist. The public is asked to stay out of forest closure areas, as interference with fire suppression could delay or impede firefighting efforts. Law enforcement will be patrolling the area.
Residents in the La Porte and Bucks Lake areas are asked to use caution as fire personnel are still working in the area. Drive carefully and watch for fire equipment.
Operational briefings will be posted to the Plumas National Forest Facebook Page every other day at www.facebook.com/USFSPlumas A planning meeting will be held tomorrow at 5 p.m. and can be viewed by going to Zoom (https://usfs.zoomgov.com/j/1602646317).
