Patti’s Thunder Café to sponsor holiday blood drive

’Tis the season for giving, and Plumas County citizens can give the gift of life next Tuesday at the final community blood drive of the year.

Patti’s Thunder Café will once again sponsor the holiday drive, which will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of Bucks Lake Road and Bellamy Lane, from noon to 6 p.m.

This is the second year in a row that Patti Decoe, a regular blood donor herself, has stepped up to sponsor the December drive.

The need for blood increases dramatically during the holiday season, so high donor turnout is critical.

Local drive coordinator Susan Christensen plans to donate Tuesday in honor of the late Donnal Nichols.

“Donnal was a longtime nurse at Feather River College and was involved with Plumas County Search and Rescue as well. Because of those activities, she well understood how blood donors can literally save lives, and she was a regular and committed blood donor until she passed away last month. Donating blood was just one more way Donnal volunteered to help her community,” Christensen said.

Donors can call Christensen at 283-2424 to sign up, or go online at www.bloodhero.com to make their own appointment by entering the code QUINCY.
