Pile burn planned Sunday below the “Q” near Quincy High School

Plumas Underburn Cooperative in conjunction with Plumas Unified School District will be conducting a pile burn behind Quincy Junior-Senior High School, below “the Q” on Sunday, April 9, weather conditions permitting.

This pile burn will be conducted by citizens and wildland fire professionals to reduce fire hazard to the community of Quincy. The burn is part of a larger effort to implement prescribed fire in American Valley for fire safety and forest health.

Smoke will be produced, but considerations have been made to burn in conditions that will reduce smoke impacts to neighbors and the community. This burn is being conducted with a special air quality permit issued by the Northern Sierra Air Quality Management District. Household air purifiers are available to those who may be impacted by smoke. Contact Logan ([email protected] ) for more information.

Local fire and air quality agencies have been notified. Do not report this fire activity.

Plumas Underburn Cooperative is a program of Plumas County Fire Safe Council and Feather River Resource Conservation District. The organization is volunteer-based and organized with the intention of promoting safe communities, resilient forests, and making the use of fire available to everyone in Plumas County
