Pile burning continues on the Plumas

Fire Crews on the Feather River Ranger District successfully treated 10 acres of pile burning yesterday to prepare for tree planting later this winter. Plans are to continue ignitions on the remaining 35 acres through Thursday, conditions permitting.

Fire managers on the Mount Hough Ranger District are planning to treat approximately 10 acres of the Butterfly East Timber piles in Butterfly Valley today, Jan. 15.

Short duration, minor smoke impacts are expected on California Highway 70 and neighboring forest roads.

Visibility on roads in the project area may be reduced, especially early in the morning and late evening as smoke settles.  Drivers in the area should use caution.
