Quincy Little League holds opening day events

The sun shone as 210 players representing 20 Little League teams participated in opening day ceremonies April 27 in Quincy.

Players took team photos, participated in a bat-a-thon to raise proceeds for Little League, and then played exhibition innings.

Sales were brisk for hot dogs and tri-tip sandwiches as the perfect weather drew family and friends to the Little League fields.

During the opening ceremony, board member Dave Schmid welcomed the players and their fans and thanked the many sponsors who support the local Little League. He encouraged attendees to check out the banners that line the fields, and acknowledge the businesses and organizations who participate in supporting Little League.

Schmid thanked Care Flight Ground for donating two AEDs for the Little League fields.

He also announced that there is a new website this year to make it easier to access pertinent information.
