Plumas Child Abuse Prevention Council holds coloring/drawing contest

Youth of Plumas County are invited to participate in a Coloring Contest for the holidays. Age categories are as follows: 4 and under, 5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 to 13, 14 and up. For each category, two options are available: using pre-designed coloring pages or drawing and/or coloring a holiday/winter themed freestyle drawing. Pre-designed coloring pages and submission forms are available at www.plumaschildren.org and can be printed from there or be picked up at Plumas County Social Services during business hours (270 County Hospital Road Suite 207) or at the Wellness Centers in Chester, Greenville or Portola.

Finalized artwork can be submitted by taking a photo and emailing it to: [email protected] or by uploading it as a private message on Facebook to www.facebook.com/plumaschildren. Entries may also be dropped off at Plumas County Social Services or the Wellness Centers in Portola, Chester, and Greenville. All entries should include a submission form or write the following on the back of the picture: name of the artist, age, name of artist’s manager, mailing address, and phone number (or put separately in email/FB message). The deadline for submission is 11:59 pm on Dec. 18. Submissions may also be mailed to Plumas County Social Services (address above), attention: Suzan Mah, and must be received by Dec. 18.

All youth who submit a coloring or drawing will receive a gift card (which will be mailed to them). Winners in each age category will receive a gift bag with a gift card and other assorted items (arrangements will be made for pickup or delivery). All entries will be posted on the Plumas Children Facebook page and may be reproduced by the Plumas CAP Council for future events. Winners’ entries will also be submitted to Plumas News to share on its website and Facebook page. First name only and age will be published along with artwork.

Plumas Children’s Council works to help prevent child abuse and neglect in Plumas County through child-centered activities and by providing information and resources to the public. The Council generally hosts the Children’s Fair each May along with other activities during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Due to COVID-19, the Council was not able to do its usual activities this year but instead provided activity bags for children in August and now this contest for the holidays. The Council is hopeful it will be able to return to normal activities in 2021. If you are interested in joining the Children’s Council, please contact Suzan Mah at [email protected].
