Plumas-Sierra County Fair Parade News

It’s summer time, and we all know what that means! It’s time for the 74th annual Plumas-Sierra County Fair Parade, coming up Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. in downtown Quincy.

Kicking off this year’s parade will be our Grand Marshal … Fred Surber, gardener extraordinaire! You’ll be reading more about Fred in an upcoming edition of the newspaper and why he is the perfect choice for this year’s Grand Marshal.

Yes indeed folks, this year’s parade is shaping up to be better than ever, but there’s just one thing missing. YOU! This is a wonderful opportunity to build memories with friends, family or neighbors!

The theme this year is “Show what you grow, share what you know.” Entry forms can be found online at www.quincychamber.com/plumas-sierra-county-fair-parade, at Plumas Bank or at The Toy Store.

New this year the Quincy Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Fair in an effort to help promote and encourage participation in the annual Fair Parade. For the first time, the Fair is offering a “Parade Grant” to families and organizations throughout Plumas and Sierra counties.

The Parade Grant is intended to help cover the cost of materials and supplies up to $150. Preference will be given to float entries; however, other types of entries may be considered. Funding is limited, so it’s important to get your application in as soon as possible. The application deadline is Aug. 1.

In order to qualify, the idea must be fun, showy and coordinate with the theme of the parade. Want to participate but low on ideas? There are several resources for fantastic parade entry ideas such as the library, Google or Pinterest.

The Parade Grant is not available to commercial entries.Parade Grant applications can be found online at www.quincychamber.com/plumas-sierra-county-fair-parade.html, or by stopping by Plumas Bank or contacting the Quincy Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, you will receive a week’s pass to the Fair.
