Plumas Unified announced another positive case today

Plumas Unified School District issued an early morning announcement today, Sept. 20, advising that another individual associated with Quincy Elementary School has tested positive for coronavirus this morning. This time  the positive case is at the Pioneer campus.

Over the weekend the school district announced that the three-day field trip scheduled to begin today was canceled due to two positive cases among sixth-grade students who were tested prior to the trip. Those students attend school on the Alder Street campus. The decision was made in consultation with the county’s public health officer and public health director.

Plumas Unified Superintendent Terry Oestreich said it’s doing an abundance of testing for athletics and field trips. The administration will deal with positive outcomes on a case-by-case basis. Students returned to the classroom Sept. 7, the day after Labor Day.
