Today is the beginning of the second week of instruction for Plumas Unified School District following the Christmas break and COVID cases are climbing. These are the positive numbers released today, Jan. 10.
Chester Elementary School: 5 cases
Chester Jr. Sr. High School: 1 case
Quincy Elementary, Pioneer campus: 2 cases
Quincy Jr. Sr. High School: 6 cases
Plumas County Community School: 1 case (classroom closed)

(Special day classroom closed 1 case)
Portola Jr. Sr. High School – 8 cases
In a conversation with Plumas Unified Superintendent Terry Oestreich this afternoon, she said a number of the new cases could be attributed to athletics. Athletes are tested on a regular basis to be able to play their sports.
If the numbers continue to grow, decisions will be made on a site basis.
