Portola Medical Clinic holds grand opening open house

Eastern Plumas Health Care celebrated the grand opening of the Portola Medical Clinic on Aug. 29, with many coming to check out the culmination of months of planning and hard work.

The clinic, located on the main EPHC campus, has been completely remodeled and rejuvenated, with a seamless flow between the medical and dental wings of the building.

The newly remodeled clinic has 16 patient rooms and two more for behavioral health, with all rooms gleaming with their fresh paint and new cabinetry.

“We made a point to use local contractors,” said EPHC CEO Todd Plimpton. “We wanted to form strong relationships that we could return to again and again.”

Patient rooms flow around a central support area for staff, giving more cohesion to the clinic’s floor plan and keeping a sense of continuity.

The flow of the new space has already proven beneficial, and according to Plimpton, the clinic has been averaging six to eight providers a day on the floor out of the 11 providers serving the community in family practice.

“Overall, our staff, engineering and IT department really brought it all together,” said Plimpton with a smile. “We also want to thank the EPHC Auxiliary for all of their additional donations — we truly couldn’t have done this without their help.”

EPHC invites the community to take advantage of the many services being offered, which include not only family practice, but dermatology, orthopedics, OB/GYN services, pediatrics, urology, podiatry, cardiology, gastroenterology, outpatient surgical services, optometry, pain management, dental services, behavioral health and telemedicine.

“We are thrilled to share this beautiful facility with the public,” said EPHC Board Chair Gail McGrath. “It’s been long awaited, but it is finally here in all of its glory.”
