Portola resources step up for fire evacuees
During these trying times that have impacted so many Plumas County residents, organizations in East Plumas County are also stepping up to help those in need.
While this is a county-wide issue with the Dixie fire evacuees, the Portola Family Resource Center and the Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network (EPCAN Food Bank) continue their close partnership with PCIRC to meet and fill local needs to accommodate fire evacuees.
Under the emergency evacuation orders, EPCAN food vouchers will be issued to all those in need by the Portola Family Resource Center for fulfillment during the EPCAN Food Bank open hours. The Portola Family Resources Center is located at 165 Ridge Street – just off Hwy 70 (near Leonard’s Market) – and may be contacted at 530-832-1827 during their hours: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The EPCAN Food Bank is located at 120 Nevada Street – just off Commercial Street in Portola. Their hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Thursday between noon and 2 p.m. Please note that the EPCAN vouchers must first be obtained from the Portola Family Resource Center on the anticipated day of fulfillment during the Food Bank open hours. No financial information will be required for evacuees.
As indicated in the recent Plumas News/PCIRC article, monetary donations may also be made to the “Dixie Fire Relief Fund” at any local Plumas Bank branch. Donations of food and/or pet supplies will be accepted at the Portola Family Resource Center during open hours.
