Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Club to hold grand opening tournament on Saturday, June 11
The Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Club is excited to announce that they will be holding a grand opening tournament at the Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Course on Saturday, June 11 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start for all to ultimately play 18 holes.
Check-in and on-site registration will be available between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., with a grand opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. leading up to the shotgun start. The format is “bring your own partner” and cost is $40 for a team of two or $20 per player to register.
There is also an option to put a dollar in for the “Ace Pot” which is a cash prize pot for shooters who get a hole in one. There will also be cash prizes for the best shooters in the casual tournament.
Those interested can pre-register online at https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/Portola_Riverwalk_Grand_Opening_BYOP_Dubs_2022.
The event is a non-sanctioned tournament and a great opportunity for all to come and play the completed course.
Tyler Stockdale, events coordinator for the club, shared that many “tweaks and adjustments” have been made in the six months since the course was installed to increase playability and safety.
“We are really looking forward to this event, and hope that the community will join in,” Stockdale said. “Renowned disc golf course designer John Houck plans to be in attendance as well and we are very excited, he has been so gracious to us here in Portola!”
The Graeagle Lions Club will be selling a continental breakfast as well as a hot dog lunch at the event for those looking for snacks as they play, in addition to the Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Club selling custom stamped disc golf discs and memberships to the club for $25 per person, which includes a bag tag.
