Positive ID not confirmed, but family shares name of man who died in trailer fir

Scott Burns

The individual who died in a Jan. 15 trailer fire in Greenville has been identified by his family. Although the Plumas County Sheriff-Coroner is awaiting positive identification through dental records, the family submitted an obituary notice today. Scott Burns, 70, was a lifelong resident of Plumas County, who was born in Quincy and lived in Greenville.

While many Greenville residents knew that Burns lived in the trailer, and it was his vehicles that were parked outside, the Sheriff has to wait for positive identification before releasing that information.

Firefighters responded to the scene of the fire on Wolf Creek Road and Main Street in Greenville the afternoon of Jan. 15, and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze. Two fire trucks, a water tender and an ambulance responded to the call.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
