PUSD retains 10-day quarantine following positive test — for now

Plumas Unified School District Terry Superintendent addressed the 10-day quarantine period required by PUSD in an email to parents today, Jan. 4.  Following is the direction being shared with parents:

You may have heard recently about a change from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) on a reduced quarantine period for asymptomatic COVID positive individuals from 10 days to 5 with follow-up testing.

PUSD discussed this change on Monday, January 3rd,  with the Plumas County Public Health Department.  There are many details and logistics that must be considered before PUSD is able to make changes to quarantine policy, including guidance forthcoming from the California Department of Education. If and when a change is made, you will be notified.

After testing positive for COVID, an individual can return to school if:
❏ 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared; AND
❏ Fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication; AND
❏ Improvement in symptoms
