Soroptimist International of Quincy named Quincy High School senior Michael Oravetz as the November Soropti-student chosen by QHS faculty for his leadership, academics, and community service.
Michael is president of the QHS S-Club and initiates many of the local community service projects. He is also a member of the California Scholarship Federation and the QHS soccer team. He plans to major in architectural engineering with a career as a green architect working to design and build housing and infrastructure.
For his senior project, Michael job shadowed Jonathan Berry, the head engineer for the Plumas National Forest in Quincy. Michael commented,“ I plan to learn and use CAD in order to design a geodesic dome that could be used for educational purposes on living sustainably at QHS. All of this thanks to the assistance of my mentor, Klay Lund.”
