Quincy blood drive canceled due to weather, sinkhole

What is it they say about the best of intentions? Well, we certainly had them, but Mother Nature had other ideas.
This week’s blood drive, scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, and Thursday, March 30, is once again canceled due to weather (not to mention that pesky sinkhole in Beckwourth).
“We had almost every available appointment filled for this week’s drive,” says local drive coordinator Elizabeth Smailes, “but I just heard from Vitalant that they won’t be able to get a crew over here after all. The weather and the Highway 70 closure near the Nervino Airport makes travel from Reno too unpredictable.”
Smailes wants to remind donors that our next community drive will be on June 6-7, and hopefully by then the weather will cooperate!
“I want to thank all the potential donors who said ‘yes’ when we called them to set up appointments for this week,” Smailes adds. “Vitalant already has the June schedule posted. I’d like to encourage donors to go to the website now and re-book themselves for that one. And, of course, we’ll be calling everyone again when the time comes.”
To schedule appointments for our community blood drives, go online to donors.vitalant.org and search for Blood Drive Code QUINCY.
