Quincy Friends hold book sale at downtown library
Forget the candy, forget the flowers — just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library is gearing up for its big February Book Sale! And books are the perfect gift for everyone on your Valentine list.
The sale runs Thursday, Feb. 6, 2 to 6 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The sale on Thursday is for Friends’ members only, but you can join the Friends or renew your membership on the spot that day. The sale on Friday and Saturday is open to the public. The last day of the sale will feature a bag sale, with bags of books going for $2 each to members and $3 each to non-members.
You can look forward to a large selection of gently used books, many of which are like new. They’re perfect for gift-giving or for your own enjoyment. Non-fiction books are organized by category, and hardback and paperback fiction are alphabetized by author so you can find what you’re looking for with ease. As a special treat, this sale will also feature a collection of fine classical records.
We also have many special pre-sale auction items available for bidding at Plumas Bank’s Quincy branch. The special pre-sale auction only runs through Friday, Jan. 31, so be sure to stop by the bank right away.
Funds raised through these book sales go entirely to the support of the Quincy Library. Quincy Friends has helped fund Saturday hours, new book and equipment purchases, along with many improvements to the meeting room to help the Quincy library better serve the community.
Friends has had the help of many wonderful volunteers during past sales and members hope for help with the February sale as well. If interested in volunteering, give Jimmie Oneal a call at 283-9854 in advance so that Jimmie can let you know what specific days and hours volunteers are most needed. Volunteers should be willing to sign up for two-hour shifts. You do not need to be a member of the Friends of the Library to help.
Please be aware that no book donations will be accepted during the sale itself. Also, please be sure that books donated at other times comply with our book donation guidelines posted at the library.
For a copy of these guidelines, or information about volunteering or any other aspect of the Friends’ work, email [email protected] or call Oneal at the number above. You can also visit www.facebook.com/quincyfriendslibrary .
As always, Quincy Friends appreciate the community’s continuing support and look forward to seeing you at the February sale.
