Quincy Lions present traditional bell to Graeagle club
In a combined meeting of the Quincy and Graeagle Lions clubs Oct. 5, 2017, the Quincy club bell was symbolically stolen by the Graeagle Lions. This is a longstanding tradition to encourage club visitation and interaction.
In good faith and sportsmanship, the bell was gifted back to the Quincy Lions at their annual Christmas dinner.
Shortly after recovery, the Quincy Lions discovered the original bell from when their club was formed in 1946.
Tradition dictates that a new club is to have a bell presented to them from the sponsoring club. Therefore, on May 2 of this year, the Quincy Lions honored the tradition by presenting the Graeagle Lions with the stolen bell with a suitable engraving: “We Serve.”
