Republican Women to meet at Gold Mountain

Plumas County Republican Women will meet at Nakoma Loggia Room at the Gold Mountain Golf Resort on Thursday, June 27. Damien Schiff, senior attorney with the  Pacific Legal Foundation, will be the featured speaker. The business meeting will begin at 11 a.m., with luncheon at noon, followed by Q & A.

Schiff was counsel of record in Sackett v. U.S. EPA, a groundbreaking decision in which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the right of landowners to challenge the Clean Water Act compliance orders issued by the Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition to the Clean Water Act, Schiff’s practice includes direct litigation and friend-of-the-court briefs in cases arising under the Federal and California Endangered Species Acts, as well as the California Coastal Act and other environmental land use laws with an outstanding number of successful cases before the Supreme Court.

Area farmers, ranchers and private property rights advocates are urged by the group to hear Schiff’s presentation. The public is invited for the luncheon at $20 and the speaker or speaker only.

Reservations should be made by Monday, June 24, to Jennifer Engel at 301-6243 or by email to Leila Hughes or [email protected]
